It's been reported that Angelina Jolie (who I LOVE!!) donates 1/3 of her income to charity, 1/3 to savings and 1/3 to living expenses. How wonderful is that?!! No company that I know of even donates anything NEAR 33% of income. And even though her income is in the millions, would YOU be able to donate 1/3 of yours?
Say your take home pay is $45,000 per year. 33% is $15,000. Can you live on that? Could you even live on $30,000 and donate $15,000?
I admit that I'm no where near 33% in giving or 33% in living expenses. As you know, from previous posts, I advocate giving and living below your means. Maybe Angelina's plan should be my ultimate goal. It may take me a few years to fully achieve it but it is worthwhile.
