Credit Report

Did you know that Federal law entitles you to a free credit report from each of the three major bureaus, Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion once per year? (I get mine in March)

You can request it online, by phone (1-877-322-8228) or mail:

1.) Download the request form. 2.) Print and complete the form. 3.) Mail the completed form to:

Once you receive them, look each over carefully. Report any errors promptly. If you find an open credit line you had thought was cancelled or one that should be cancelled call customer service to request the account be closed and each credit reporting agency be contacted and it be noted that the account was closed by consumer request. Follow up with a letter to the company and asking for a confirmation letter from each company. Make a copy of your letter for your records and file the confirmation letter when it is received.
