Living In Jackson, MI

I found this in the paper a little while ago and forgot to write about it.

It's a little blurb about the affordability of living here in Jackson, MI compared to the national average. I thought it was kind of interesting.

Overall cost of living is 92.2% of the national average. Meaning we pay 7.8% LESS than the average person on living expenses.
Housing is 79.4% and utilities are 82.8%. Transportation is 97.4% and Health Care is 99.6%. Evidently we like to eat because that's the category that we exceed the average, coming in at 106.7%

I'm not surprised at the housing percentage. This is 1/2 the reason why I commute 150 miles a day for work. Housing in Southfield and the communities around there is too high for this cheapskate.

Of course I hate the wasted time it takes to get to work but what can I do? Last I knew unemployment here was around 7%. Factories and other businesses are closing left and right. I doubt I would be able to get a job making anywhere near the pay I get now. The pay isn't even the issue, it's the medical benefits I need. Really even though I hate the office I work in and the commute the job itself a monkey could do, with little to no training.
