Tax Time

Tax Time--This year there is a one time Telephone Tax Refund.

Evidently federal taxes collected for long distance services are being refunded. The refund period is after February 28, 2003 and before August 1, 2006.

You can either take a standard deduction of $30 for a single person, or you can figure your refund using the actual amount of tax paid. Using this option fill out Form 8913 and attach it to your regular tax return.

As I wrote on January 1 & 2, I box up all invoices and receipts from the previous year and keep these for 7 years. Most times I don't need to refer back to these records but in an instance such as this, I'm happy to be organized and a pack-rat.

I'll let you know if it pays off in a larger deduction.
